"Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost."
~Luke 15:6
~Luke 15:6
My husband has an elderly friend who is…well, let’s just say
he’s not a very sociable person.
We invited him to dinner once. As he sat at my table eating
the food I’d prepared for him he remarked, “You know, I didn’t really want to
come here tonight. I don’t really like people—especially women—but, your husband
said you were a good cook. So, here I am.”
Insulted, incredibly annoyed and somewhat flustered I couldn’t
really think of how to respond, at first. Was he joking? I didn't think so... Finally I asked, “And now? Are you glad you
came now?”
Yes, he replied, “You are a good cook. But, I still don’t
need any new friends—especially women friends. So, don’t be getting any ideas.
I’ve reached my quota for the number of people I want in my life. You didn’t
make the cut.”
Aren’t we blessed to know that Jesus
never felt this way?
From the first day to this day Jesus’ capacity for loving more and more people
has never faltered, never waned. He actively seeks new hearts to change and
save. Like a shepherd searching for lost lambs he pursues us and brings us into
the fold, into the crook of his arm and the center of his heart. He loves us
one and all. There is no one anywhere—no matter who they are or what they’ve
done—that wouldn’t “make the cut” with Jesus. His forgiveness is boundless and
all consuming. His love is infinite and free.
Jesus wants to add you to his list of friends. Call out to
him today and let him change your life for the better.
